26A – Celebrating Failure
I failed my first online class which was also my first accounting
class with a 69.98 as my final grade, I needed a 70 *Cries in Spanish* . I
didn’t understand very well the syllabus and how the class was structured,
everything the professor would post would be like if we were her other section (on
campus class) and didn’t give much information for her online sections. I was way
too insecure to ask her questions and didn’t really know how to get access to
her lectures, I honestly thought we only had to read the book and do the
assignments to prepare for the tests.
2)
Tell us what you learned from it.
Now that I am an online student I know that I should be
asking questions if I am not certain about what to do, I learned how to manage
my time better and how to make use of online resources to optimize my online
learning
3) Reflect, in general, on what you think about failure.
Failure is hard, isn't it? It's embarrassing, sure, but it also means that we
have to change something about ourselves. Talk about how you handle failure
(emotionally, behaviorally). Finally, talk about how this class has changed
your perspective on failure -- are you more likely to take a risk now than you
were just a few months ago?
It is a little bit embarrassing to fail accounting as a scientist
when I have already taken really hard classes such as organic chemistry, mechanical
physics and calculus for engineering. Failure hits hard but it is not like it
will stop us from achieve our goals. As J Cole says on one of his songs “ I might
bend a little bit but I don’t fold”. This class has also taught me that the
process of success also comes with failure and to be prepared for when that
happens.
