3A – Your Entrepreneurship Story

For my entrepreneurship story I cannot think of a better example than my father. He is an architect graduated from top of his class and ever since I have a memory, he has worked hard and he enjoys his job. My dad is a very well organized person, he gets up every day at six to work out and then go to work at 8am and come back from work at 10pm. When I was a kid he used to work for the government in public projects, such as building roads, streets, parks and adding architectural designs to the city’s townhall. He worked there for 6 years and from then he created his own business in construction, he started only by himself and a partner that specialized in digital plan design which constitutes of creating digital projects and its planification. They would complete around 10 projects per year. With time he made his company grow, his services would cover topography, architectural planes, construction and interior designing. His company was doing very well during that time, making more than 15 full projects per year. The economy of the country got really bad and my dad couldn’t afford to keep people in his small company so he had to do all the job by himself, I would go with him and work for more than six hours under the sun taking topographic measurements to later on create the plans. He taught himself how to use Autocad which is a computer program for civil engineering. He would wake up at 4am and watch videos and practice until 8am to go to work after, he did this for 3 months and worked on 10 projects during that period of time, all of them created by only him. Now his business has grown and is a private company well recognized in the state where I am from in Mexico, he has 5 architects working with him and 2 civil engineers that specialize in Autocad and other programs. He now creates more than 20 projects per year for the past couple of years and he is really an inspiration on how to become a great entrepreneur. I enrolled in the course of Ent3003 with the hopes of helping me achieve my own personal goals on my projects, I know where I want to get with my ideas but I need to learn how to do them the right way with entrepreneurship fundamentals to one day become a great business man.( on the picture is my mom and dad celebrating my mom's birthday at my dad's restaurant.)
