9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2
I conducted five interviews to different people with
different professions and ages. My personal opportunity is about a company that
creates Solar Panels and also works as a monthly service for houses with solar
panel installations.
Interviewees: Maysa Sarmento(student), Margarida Muniz(business
owner), Eduardo Arenas(student and worker), Kathy Gabriella ( graduate student) and
Samantha Russel(waitress)
Who: Are there certain people or certain businesses
that, although they share a lot in common with the others in your opportunity,
nevertheless fall outside the boundary? There are certain people that fall
outside the boundary, the reason why, is because this business idea was created
mainly for people who live in California. There is a law that says it will be
passed in 2021 that all residents need to have a solar panel. People outside
the State of California may want to opt for this method of energy source but it
will not be mandatory as in California, but hopefully with time business can
expand to other states.
What: This need has been known to exist before all
around the world, the only difference here is that this need will soon become a
law requirement. The company also provides monthly service, which is something
necessary in case of any malfunction or new installation.
Why: Solar panels are known to be of high cost and
not everyone can afford to pay for it, but in reality it can save a lot of
money. People see their investment return in less than 3 years, people in Gainesville
can also use this need because of natural high exposure to solar rays.

Hi Roy,
ReplyDeleteI think you have a really solid concept in regards to your hypothesis. I think it is really interesting that your focus is based on solar panels because my major - Interior Design - has a strong focus as well on sustainability, so this is a topic I am very familiar with. I think it is incredible that by 2021 all California residents have to have solar panels in their homes, I think this is great for the environment overall and could definitely have a strong impact in the planet. However, I don't know how feasible this will be. Not everyone believes in environmentalism and will not be willing to spend the money on this. It makes sense these are the people that fall outside the boundary.
Good job!
I really like this idea, I had no idea California will make this mandatory. I agree that more laws need to be enforced for conversing our natural resources and start heading to a more self sufficient way to power our homes. Here is Florida and California Solar panels would be very useful. I wonder how efficient they would be for states that don't get as much sunshine as we do. Very unique opportunity you chose. Good work.
ReplyDeleteHey Roy, this was an educational read for me and I see the opportunity here to make a successful business. I liked your use and utilization of a chart graphic. It made for a better way to read the information. I can tell how much time and energy you spent here. Nice post.
