7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

1)    Pick an opportunity you would like to pursue

Solar System’s company.

2) Clearly state the opportunity you have identified, including the who, what, why.

The who: Solar System
The what: Will be required by 2021 for all Californian citizen to have a solar panel at their homes
The why: Will be a law and also would include no taxation on energy bills

3)Are there others who have this need? All residents from the state of California

What are the boundaries of the need? Within the state of California
for the people who have the need you have identified, what are the range of whys that they offer? Does the "why" you have identified hold for everyone?
I think that if it becomes a law for residents to have a solar panel at home then opening a store that sells them would be great for a business

4) In Part 1, you must interview five people. These interviews must be lengthy enough for you to get the information you need. In these interviews, you want to ask questions that try to capture the variation in the whos, whats, and whys, and your objective is to test the boundaries of your opportunity hypothesis.
First: Pablo a resident of Panorama city in California mention how this would be a good alternative to turn his attention into, he considered how it helps to save money and how it has no taxation but that he doesn’t think it should be mandatory
Second: Prabhjot is a lawyer working in the area of Beverly hills, he says that a lot of people have high bills for electricity and that the city has turned into this because people demanded it, he thinks that since it will become a law then it would a lot in the economy of the state.
Third: Carlos is a city worker and he says he has been aware of the importance for the planet to be taken care of generating less pollution and that natural sources such as wind and light can help in this world. Focusing on the political side he thinks is perfect that they require a law for this but he thinks it need to be take some time for the people to get used to this change
Fourth: Victor is a nurse student and he says how the hospital where he has his practices uses solar panels and that he thinks is such a good thing for the economy after hearing that people start saving money within yeas of switching to this alternative .
Fifth: Hanna a worker in LA that cares about the planet and how it is perfect to look to solar panels as an alternative for saving electricity, she thinks a business that sells and provide services for this product would be a great deal in the economy of at least los angeles city.

5)Include your write-up of each step in your assignment. For step 4, please summarize what you find. Given your interviews, what do you know about the opportunity that you didn't know before?

That it is a great starting opportunity for a new business with good quality control and it is highly demanded even by people outside of the state.

Comments

  1. Hey Roy, I can see this company having success. I remember hearing just how many subsides and tax breaks a solar company can receive so a company could take full advantage of this. I know the price of the panels has dropped a lot since the first big market surge in demand years ago. Its an interesting idea to potentially pursue in sunny states such as Florida.

  2. Roy, this is an excellent idea! A company that takes advantage of legislature, all while providing an eco-friendly alternative to sustainable electricity sources. California is also a great state to implement this due to proper conditions. Like Barry said, hopefully Florida can pursue implementing something like this sometime down the line. We aren't called the Sunshine State for nothing! Great post.
