19A – Idea Napkin No. 2




1. My name is Rogelio, a junior currently studying Business Administration. I would define myself as the curious type, I am always trying to find solutions for every problem and trying to figure out how things function. My skills are found in different areas of expertise, I can say I am really good at playing basketball, this activity has given me the opportunity to obtain a scholarship outside my country in California to play for St Genevieve High School. A year ago I got a degree in General Science, while at the same time my lifeguard certification from the Red Cross. My aspirations is for one day to become a great manager for a big company, then opening my own businesses. One of the biggest projects I have in mind is to create a solar panel company, which would be a great fit for me since I will be having a degree in business and the other one in science, I would like to be the kind of boss that is seem more like a leader, leading employees to achieve great personal goals and the company’s goals. I would also like to increase my number of skills and learn new things from my employees.


2. What I am offering to customers is not only the commercialization of solar panels, but also the services of installation, electricity control and maintenance. Electricity control is important to know the monthly expenses on electricity, I would like to make this practical and each customer to be able to administer this on an app.

3. This product will target customers who are trying to save money on electricity bills, while at the same time, those who are interested in saving our planet from the results of pollution, created by carbon generated by normal sources of electricity. This ranges from families to people who live by themselves, such as elders or young adults.

4. People care for different reasons, because they want to save the planet and because they want to save money are the biggest causes customers would be interested in this service. Customers would be more than happy to invest in a product that within ten years it will save them more than 9 thousand, on average, on their electricity bills and will have control over this. My purpose with this project is to be efficient and affordable.

5. My customer service would be the thing that would set me apart from everyone else, also the variation in products, since different houses require different amounts of energy, therefore different products. Currently prices for solar panels can be really high, I will try to optimize the best price for a good quality in our products. My solar panels wont only be for roof houses but also for phone chargers, house products or even electric cars.

I believe all these elements fit together, only disadvantage I see to be a new company in the market is production. Massive production is difficult to achieve due to the need of technology to create the solar panels and engineers that can provide new innovative ideas for solar panel design and quality control. Costumer service can also be difficult, but my idea is to establish an online service in case of common questions and product services, if any other big service is needed such as installation then there would be a team assigned for different zones that would report to the company. The feedback I received was really positive, getting into this kind of business knowing about both science and business, helps to be confident on how this service will be provided efficiently.

    Hi, this is an interesting idea. I don't know much about solar panels. You said your customer service and products would set you apart. So are you inventing new products that others don't have? I think your idea is good but you should consider doing a competitive analysis model like SWOT. I think you would only have temporary advantage in an already saturated market. I do think your service model will be what sets your apart for your advantage. Good service anywhere around here is hard to find. Good Job.

    I've been keeping up with your idea and I do believe customer service is something that will lead to standout in this market. However, I also believe that your passion and understanding for this need is something that will propel you greatly. You seem to feel very strongly about this idea, and I believe you are the best person for it. Keep it up, great post!

Morty (here is a picture when Morty and Jessica first fell in love back in high school) I would describe Morty as the typical father of two and married whose favorite hobby is to walk around the beaches of the city of LA on a beautiful Sunday morning. Him and his family after the beach, they drive back home to Westwood. Their house has the typical common areas: dining room, kitchen, living room and a studio room (where Morty and Jessica tend to do some of their work).
